Where to Stay in Reykjavik
Planning a trip to Iceland will most likely include a stay in Reykjavik, even if your plans include some of Icelands amazing other destinations. This may leave many travelers wondering about that most important question, where to stay?
Securing a comfortable room when you are traveling is essential, especially on international trips where the destination is an unknown quantity. Iceland, for most people, certainly fits the bill as unknown. In these cases, trust and some sense of familiarity are very important. Berjaya Hotels, which is part of the Icelandair Group of companies, prides itself on extending the brand experience you will most likely have had flying into our country. From the moment you board your flight to the moment of check in, we are here to make your trip the best it can be. Within Reykjavik, Berjaya Hotels currently operates 2 hotels with a third property set to open in 2015. Heres a little information about our Reykjavik hotels, hopefully making the question of where to stay in Reykjavik? a little easier.
Berjaya Reykjavik Natura Hotel is located right on the outskirts of downtown Reykjavik and right next to our domestic airport. Formerly Hotel Loftleidir (airport hotel), this property has long standing roots in the city. Originally built in the mid 1960s, it has undergone recent and significant renovations, making it an excellent choice. Reykjavik Natura has 220 rooms and can boast having the only indoor swimming pool and hot tub amongst all other Iceland hotels. Nearby attractions are Perlan (the pearl), Nautholsvik thermal beach, Oskjuhlid, a forested area and miles and miles of bike and running pathways. Guests can easily access downtown via public transportation or a 15-20 minute walk.
Berjaya Reykjavik Marina Hotel, which opened in 2012, is located along the harbor and is just steps from Reykjaviks bustling downtown including its busy main street, Laugavegur. Reykjavik Marina has 108 guest rooms and features a colorful and quirky interior. This hotel also has one of Reykjaviks most popular bars, called Slippbarrin - a nod to Reykjaviks maritime history.
Berjaya Hotel Reykjavik Cultura will open in the summer of 2015. When completed, this hotel will have 142 rooms and will be centrally located in downtown Reykjavik in the historic Opera and theatre district. Reykjavik Cultura will annex existing buildings and maintain their existing look and style in keeping with this historic section of our capital city.
